Counseling is not a one-size-fits-all endeavor. In working with adolescents (ages 14-17) and adults (18+), I aim for a holistic approach – brain-based and person-focused – that is tailored to each individual. Most of counseling starts with a top-down approach where the focus is on building self-awareness which offers you the ability to choose new responses rather than succumb to rote-level reactions. Where top-down methods end or fall short, bottom-up methods can take therapy further. These are more organic approaches that work with the subconscious body-mind connection where trauma, triggers, and disorganized patterns of thinking and behavior are stored. We unlock and unravel these by inviting the more vulnerable parts of you to join us in a safe, curious, non-judgmental, compassionate space in order to become reintegrated, resilient, and empowered.
