My name is Dana Owens, and I specialize in spiritual and religious trauma, faith exploration and deconstruction, purity culture recovery, and treatment for cult survivors. I also work with developmental and attachment trauma and anxiety. Safety and comfort are foundations for being able to do deep therapeutic work with trauma. You are the expert of you, and I prioritize your autonomy and agency in our work. I am EMDR-trained and use an attachment and emotion-focused framework, as well as nervous system-based approaches (Polyvagal Theory) in my work with clients. My approach is culturally-aware and honors the unique identities of my clients. I practice antiracism and recognize that “a safe place” is determined by the individual seeking care. I work from a feminist, systemic lens, conceptualizing my clients’ struggles within the systems that shape their experiences. I believe in the core of my being that healing is possible, and I’m honored that you would pause here, considering me to walk this journey with you.
