Overview

Dr. Ben Neale’s approach is collaborative, insight oriented, and considers the impact of socialization on how you understand your identity. Interventions, duration of treatment, and outcome is different for everyone. Dr. Neale believes change is rooted in relationships and identifying patterns that inhibit one from living a fulfilled life. Through examination of these patterns, the practice can help you develop alternative and more adaptive ways to manage stressors, connect genuinely with others, and enact meaningful advances in your life. Dr. Neale’s current interests include concerns related to men and masculinity; the lived experience of marginalized peoples; mood disorders; relationship / family concerns; grief / loss; trauma; chronic pain and health psychology; and college / graduate student mental health. Dr. Neale’s training and professional experiences have, and continue to be, grounded in oppression theory and multicultural practice. Dr. Neale works with young people (age 16+), adults and older adults, and is inclusive of people of all races, genders, ethnicities, sexual orientations, abilities, socioeconomic-class backgrounds, and spiritual identities. As a White ally, Dr. Neale understands the unique challenges facing People of Color in predominantly White communities. As an LGBTQIA+ ally, Dr. Neale cultivates an affirming space that respects your fluid or fixed identity.
